Eight rooms on the quiet end of Bara Beach, Tanjung Bira. A short flight of steps down to the sand, and a beach that keeps its sand at every tide.
A short flight of stone steps leads from the property down to the sand — nothing steep, and no ladder to climb.
The air conditioning is quiet, genuinely cold, and serviced on a schedule. Every room has its own 30-litre hot water tank, so a whole family can shower one after another.
Diving, snorkelling, island hopping, airport transfers, a motorbike for the week, or dinner at Akasha Beach Club, run by the same family — with a free ride there and back.
Our Story
Set right on the sand of Bara Beach in Tanjung Bira, Bara Cabana Hotel is a small, German-managed hotel — eight rooms in three types. We opened our doors to share this beautiful stretch of coastline with travellers looking for a relaxed, good-value place to stay.
Each of our rooms is kept simple and comfortable — air conditioning that is genuinely cold, hot water from a 30-litre tank, and a furnished patio or terrace outside your door — so you can spend your time enjoying the beach and the sunsets rather than a room full of things you did not ask for.
Accommodations
From beachfront bungalows to comfortable superior rooms, every space is kept simple and comfortable for a relaxed stay. One child under 10 stays free in each room.
Experiences

Getting Here
Bara Cabana is on Bara Beach, about five hours by road from Makassar. There is no airport in Bira, so everyone arrives the same way — down the length of South Sulawesi by car or bus. Below is what each option actually involves, and roughly what it costs.

FAQ
Is breakfast included in the room rate?
Yes, breakfast is included with your stay. We don't operate a separate restaurant, but breakfast is served daily for all in-house guests.
How do I get to Bara Cabana from Makassar?
About five hours by road, give or take half an hour for traffic and a meal stop. A night drive without stops can be closer to four. By shared Kijang or bus, allow six. See our Getting Here page for the full breakdown.
Is the beach really in front of the hotel?
Yes. A short flight of stone steps leads from the property down to the sand — no ladder involved. The stretch in front of us is wide and keeps its sand even at high tide.
Do the rooms have air conditioning and hot water?
Yes, all eight rooms. The air conditioning is serviced on a regular schedule, and each room has its own 30-litre hot water tank with good pressure.
Is there parking?
Yes — free, with plenty of space. On request we close the gate to the street overnight.
What activities are available around the hotel?
We can help arrange snorkelling, diving with our partner diving.de, and island hopping to Liukang and Kambing Islands. Just let our team know in advance and we'll help set it up with trusted local operators.
